Background: Applicants interested in the Master of Professional Science in Biomedical and Health Informatics program are expected to have some background (from prior education and/or work experience) related to healthcare and basic technical knowledge/skills necessary to complete the program coursework. Applicants lacking sufficient preparation may be required to take additional coursework prior to admission.

Interview: Interview with Program Director

Statement of Purpose: The following item should be included in a complete application to the Master of Professional Science in Biomedical and Health Informatics program. Failure to include the following will result in the application not being reviewed: The statement of purpose for MPS applicants should reflect the applicant’s career goals, how the applicant’s educational background and work experience will contribute to their experience in the MPS program, and how attending the MPS program will assist the applicant in achieving their goals.

International Applicants: If you are an international applicant and have an educational background from an international university, please submit a GPA conversion. GPA conversions are beneficial for the admissions committee to fully understand each applicant’s educational background. We recommend a WES or ECE evaluation. Please send them to chipinfo@unc.edu.
