In addition to the University’s required application materials, applicants should review the information below for additional expectations or application requirements.

  1. Letters of recommendation should be from faculty members who know you and your work and who are in a position to judge your potential in the field of musicology (broadly defined to include historical musicology, music theory, and ethnomusicology)
  2. Submit your Statement of Purpose (to include the particular nature of your interest in graduate study in music, your reasons for applying specifically to the graduate program at UNC-Chapel Hill, and your long-term goals in the field).
