Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 in their undergraduate degree.  However, attainment of a 2.5 grade point average does not guarantee admission.Statement of Purpose (essay on commitment to the teaching profession and children)To help us understand your commitment to the teaching profession and to children, we would like you to address the following in your statement of purpose:

  1. Describe why you want to become a teacher or why you want to pursue this licensure area.
  2. Describe your commitment to the teaching profession and children, adolescents or teens.
  3. Please list the experiences you have had with children, such as jobs, volunteer efforts, and extra curricular activities, along with the duration of each experience.
  4. Please tell us what particular strengths and skills you will bring to teaching.

The Statement of Purpose needs to be uploaded to Supplemental Documents portion of the application. Failure to do so will result in your application being considered incomplete and it will NOT be reviewed for admission.

Resume

A standard resume is required for all applications. Please be sure to include your experiences working with children, jobs, volunteer efforts, and extra-curricular activities, along with the duration of each experience.

Students looking to receive licensure in Middle Grades Education will choose from four specialty content areas:

Language Arts
Mathematics
Science
Social Studies

 

All application materials including letters of recommendation and matched official test scores (if required), must be received by the application deadline. Applications that are incomplete after the deadline will NOT be reviewed for admission.
